With shifting winds in the forecast, smoky conditions are expected in the next several days throughout the Southeast Fire Centre.
The forecast shows that prevailing winds will change over the next few days. This change is expected to bringing smoke from the central interior regions of British Columbia, where the majority of large fires continue to burn, to the Southeast Fire Centre. This is likely to bring hazy, smoky conditions.

Summer in the Mountain Kingdom heralds the arrival of all kinds of fun stuff: open patios at local restaurants, museum and mine tours, snow-free (hopefully) hiking trails, and our own local musical theatre production, The Gold Fever Follies. This ever-changing, dynamic show, consisting of stories loosely based on actual historical events in Rossland's history, will see its 24th season this year, and after my preview the other night I can say with confidence that this year's Follies is the must-see event of the summer.

This summer, Whitewater Ski Resort plans to install its new Glory Ridge Chair. The chair was formerly identified as the BS1 lift in the Master Plan, and will service the terrain currently referred to as the Backside. “The mountain crew, in cooperation with mother nature, hope to have the lift ready to load as conditions permit this coming season” says General Manager Brian Cusack.
