Grace Marion Naka

In the early morning hours of March 5 2019, Grace Marion Naka died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

Grace was born on June 18, 1935 in Kelowna British Columbia.  Her youth was spent in Westbank.  Grace was the third of seven children and she had fond memories of times shared with each of them.

Grace married Tomo, the love of her life, in 1953.  They spent their first year together in Prince Rupert and soon after then moved to Nelson where together they worked and nurtured their family for the next 65 years.

Grace’s faith and love of God carried her through life and guided her in her role as a caring mother for each of her five children.

We have fond memories of mom organizing family get togethers and outings, golfing, playing bridge and traveling with Dad and their close friends.

Grace will forever be in our hearts and it brings us great joy knowing that she is now, once again, with her Tomo.

Grace was predeceased by her three brothers Claire, Alvin and John and is survived by:

Sisters:  Katie, Kathleen, May and Lois.
Children: Deborah (Allan), Wayne (Rae), Loree (Cal), Heather (Michael) and Brian (Michelle).
GG was blessed with 14 grandchildren: Ross (Carley), Brian (Heather), Paul, Kiomi (Mike), Alexander, Rebecca, Daniel, Isaac, Jessica, Augustino, Ghezlane, Matthew, Meghan, Nicolas and  4 great grandchildren Owen, Harris, Mason and Ruby.

Grace will be dearly missed by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, March 9, at 11:00 a.m., at the Cathedral of Mary Immaculate, 813 Ward Street, Nelson, BC.

Memorial donations in memory of Grace may be made to Saint Joseph School, 523 Mill St., Nelson, BC V1L 4S2 or Kootenay Lake Hospital, 3 View St, Nelson, BC V1L 2V1.
