McPherson, Heidi Leah

(January 14th, 2022)

August 13, 1963 – January 14, 2022
Heidi left us the morning of January 14, 2022.
Holding her forever in our hearts are her mom – Eleanor; sister – Kendall; brother – Clay; Nephew – Matt (Amy); Niece – Dylann (Levi);, Great Nephew – Foster; Great Niece – Ivy; Boyfriend – Mic and numerous extended family members. Heidi had many friends who adored her and are also grieving.
Heidi was the youngest of three and probably the most determined of the bunch. She excelled in sports (recipient of the Presidential Physical Fitness award in the US and the Canada Fitness Award in Canada).

She played volleyball, basketball, skied, was a long distance runner. She loved the outdoors. She enjoyed fishing (a little competitive); camping and hiking in the mountains, or paddling on the lake all of which she heartily took part in.
She received her Technical Drafting Certificate from Selkirk College in 1986 and worked as a draftsperson for DelCan and for Fairbank Architects over the years. She also did furniture refinishing for a number of years as a small business “Strip and Bare It” out of Ymir.
Heidi’s infectious laugh, beautiful smile and engaging personality were welcomed by all who knew her. Bonfires, family bbq’s, were all the more enjoyable with Heidi there. Talented artist, athlete and culinary student (avid watcher of cooking shows) Heidi’s language of love was to share her cooking/baking and art works with those closest to her.
Heidi was a super hugger – when she hugged you, you felt that hug for hours. One of the sweetest things about Heidi was how she retained her childlike delight for birthdays and Christmas – the giving and receiving of presents would literally make her giggle in anticipation. So fun!

At this time there will not be a gathering. Donations in Heidi’s memory can be made to Nelson SPCA or BC SPCA.
