Marshall, Cynthia Jane

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cynthia Jane Marshall.  She passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2024, with her husband by her side, after a battle with cancer at the age of 75.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 46 years, Steve, children Melissa (Scott), Alana and Jonathan (Julie), treasured grandchildren Brooke, Josh, Cassidy, Owyn and Aria, her sister Heather and brother Fraser, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother, Daintry, her father John and her sister Rosemary.

Cynthia was born to Daintry and John Collins in Pointe Claire, Quebec in 1949.  Some of her fondest memories of her childhood were the summers she spent in Metis.  She moved to Calgary in 1974 where she met Steve and joined the Larche Community working with adults with disabilities.  She continued in that line of work in Nelson, BC.   Their 3 children were born in Calgary where they formed some very lasting and meaningful relationships before moving to Nelson BC in 1988.

Cynthia will be remembered as being one of the kindest souls.  She was so caring, always had a kind word for everyone, saw the good in everyone and showed so much love to all that knew her.

She will be so dearly missed by all that had the joy of knowing her and she will live in our hearts forever.  We will also never forget her beautiful smile and seeing her dance like no one was watching (although she wouldn’t care if anyone was)

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nelson Food Cupboard in her name.

A service will be held at the Nelson United Church on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 2 p.m.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 2-5 p.m. at 2769 Lower Six Mile Road.
