MacKenzie — Ervilla Lorraine (Bobbie)

Bobbie MacKenzie passed away peacefully at Mountain Lake Seniors Facility on Dec. 19, 2010 at the age of 83.

Bobbie was born in Rosthern, Sask. April 24, 1927, and grew up on a Homestead in Meadow Lake, Sask. In 1946 she moved to Procter, BC with her family.

In what eventually led to a career as an LPN, Bobbie worked for a time in the old Nelson Hospital before moving to Vancouver, where she met the Love of her life, George MacKenzie. They married and had two daughters.

Bobbie and George along with their girls settled in Nelson, where they worked until retirement, when the real fun began. They made many wonderful friends with whom they enjoyed such things as travelling, hunting, fishing, gold panning, curling, golfing to name a few of their interests.

Bobbie has rejoined those who predeceased her; loving husband George, younger brother Paul, both parents John and Elizabeth Peters. She leaves behind to remember and cherish her; daughters Gail of Salmo, Debbie of Nelson, sisters Helen Hein of Winfield, Caroline MacKenzie of Chilliwack, sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Art Pompu of Christina Lake, three granddaughters, five great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, cousins Bernice (Lloyd) of Nelson.

Special thanks to Dr. Janz and the staff of Mountain Lake, Dr. Dixon-Warren and staff of Salmo Wellness Centre, Homecare Nurse Sylvia and Homecare Ladies of Salmo, and Thompson Funeral Service of Nelson.

A very special thanks to Myrna Lewis, who has always been there when she was most needed. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. Time and place will be announced in advance.

Anyone wishing to do so may make donations in Bobbie’s memory to the Canadian Alzheimer’s Society 809 Davies St. Nelson, BC V1L 3T6.
