Kosiancic, Lawrence Valentine

(July 23rd, 2024)

Feb 20, 1928 – July 23, 2024

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lawrence Kosiancic in Trail, BC at Poplar Ridge on July 23, 2024.

Lawrence was born Feb 20, 1928, in Nelson, BC to Valentine and Ella Kosiancic.  He lived and grew up on the family farm in Crescent Valley, BC until he met his sweetheart Violet Longden and married October 25, 1958, and welcomed three children Carol Castle, Roy Winstanley and Ella Dear.

Lawrence lived 96 years and accomplished many things.  He worked as a truck driver, equipment operator, heavy duty mechanic and part time bus driver for the City of Nelson.  There wasn’t anything that Lawrence couldn’t make or fix.  Friends and family would always look to Lawrence for help when things needed fixing.

Lawrence enjoyed his adventures and travels with his wife Violet camping, fishing and hiking.  They traveled in British Columbia, Alberta and into the United States pulling their home on wheels.

Above all else the most important thing in Lawrence’s life was his family.  He was an amazing husband, father, brother, grandpa, great grandpa, great great grandpa, brother-in-law and uncle.

Lawrence was predeceased by his mom and dad Valentine and Ella Kosiancic, his brothers Tom, Ray and Jake Kosiancic.  He is survived by his daughters Carol Castle, Ella Dear (Bill), son Roy Winstanley and sister Shirley Kosiancic (Don).  He is also survived by his grandchildren Clayton Castle, Melissa Castle, Krystal Winstanley, Peter Winstanley, Kendal Herrmann and Cameron Shukin.  Great grandchildren Kayce Herrmann, Simon and Violet Castle, Aaron and Heather Castle and Great Great grandchildren Robby and Boedy (Heather Castle’s children).

Lawrence will be missed but remembered often.

Many thanks to Dr. McKay, the medical staff and nurses at the Kootenay Lake Hospital (Nelson), Nelson Home Support and the care givers at Poplar Ridge in Trail, B.C.

There will be no funeral, but at a later date Lawrence and Violet’s ashes will be laid to rest together one last time.
