Gavin, Velma ‘Fay’

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fay on July 2nd, 2018 in Nelson, BC.

She is predeceased by her husband Neil Gavin (2017), her son Samuel Gavin (1980), daughter in law Sharon Collier (2010), son in law Donald Perasso (2009) and many other family members.

Fay was born on September 3, 1932 in Calgary, Alberta. She met Neil in 1950 and they were married in 1952. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. They raised their three children; Sam, Cindy and Jamie.

As a teen Fay had many hobbies but enjoyed figure skating the most. She began her career in cake decorating before meeting Neil and then she worked at a couple of banks and the BCGEU in Nelson.

Fay & Neil moved to Kelowna in 1987 and to Salmo in 1997 before coming back to Nelson in 2008.

Fay was known to all for her kindness, her gentleness and her terrific sense of humour. She will be sadly missed.

Cindy & Jamie would like to thank the staff at Mountain Lakes for their care, compassion, patience and kindness to our Mom.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Prestige Lakeside Resort in Nelson B.C on July 28 2018 from 1-4 pm. Gwen Ziprick of Thompson Funeral Service has been entrusted with the arrangements.
