Bueler, Jackie

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Jackie Bueler. Jackie passed on Sunday, January 23, 2023, at the Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson, BC.
She will be dearly missed by family and friends. She leaves behind, her daughter, Debbie (Bob) Anderton, her sons, Stephen (Mel) Bueler, Brian (April) Bueler, grandchildren, Ryan (Kelsey), Nicki (Bob), Sherri (Brian), Shauna (Colin), Simone, Kevin, Amanda (Nic), Jesse (Bri); great-grandchildren, Makayla (Austin), Dylan, Keira, Brooklyn, Alexandria, Austin and her beloved dog, Pepe. She also leaves behind her brother Thomas (Mona) Hardwick of Ottawa, Ontario and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Pius Bueler, parents, Charles Reginald Hardwick & Grace Hardwick (nee Carr), her brothers, Charles & Bobby, and her sisters, June & Gloria.
Jackie was born in Belleville, Ontario on September 5, 1936. Her family broke up when she was a young girl and unfortunately, she spent time in the foster care system and was separated from her siblings. This was a difficult time for her. Her parents reconciled and she moved west with them to Vancouver, BC, in the early 1950’s, where she met her husband, Pius. Jackie & Pius were married on August 22, 1957 in Calgary, Alberta and started building their family. Together they moved from Calgary with their 3 young children to Cranbrook, then Howser to Meadow Creek (Marblehead) in 1964, when plans were being made for the construction of the Duncan Dam. Jackie worked as a caretaker of the Lardeau Valley Community Center for a few years and then she went to work in the cookhouse with Pius @ Kootenay Forest Products until they retired in 1981. Jackie would help Pius with growing & packaging the vegetable produce for market, making meat pies and chopping kindling for sale to many resorts in and around Banff and Lake Louise. Jackie worked hard all her life. She loved her home in Meadow Creek, `enjoying the peaceful and quiet lifestyle. She would often say “I live in the best place, lots of fresh air”. She would enjoy watching the wildlife, deer, bears, squirrels, birds, etc., passing through her property. She spent her time crocheting many blankets and loved doing a good puzzle.
We would like to say thank you to the ambulance attendants, doctors, nursing staff in Kaslo, Nelson, and Kelowna, Thompson Funeral Services and our many friends for all your support and kindness during this difficult time.
Our love for you shall live on forever in our hearts and memories. You did good Mom!!
