Breen, Debbie Ann

Debbie Ann Breen passed away peacefully on January 17, 2023, at the age of 67. She had an infectious smile and laugh that could light up any room. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

Debbie was born November 24, 1955, in Melville, Saskatchewan. She was the oldest of two children born to Elsie and Paul Lazurko. In 1983, Debbie moved to Edmonton and met the love of her life, Randy Breen. On December 29, 1984, Debbie and Randy were married and moved to Kelowna to begin their new life together. In 1990, they set on a new adventure and moved to Nelson. Debbie and Randy got the best gift ever when their son Alexander was born on April 30, 1994. Alexander was truly the light of her life.  Debbie’s family was everything to her, and she supported and cherished Randy and Alexander in everything they did. There also wasn’t a day that went by that she didn’t pick up the phone and called home to Saskatchewan and talked to her parents and brother, Rick. Debbie loved taking yearly vacations back to Saskatchewan and couldn’t wait for the next trip.

Debbie called the Royal Bank her second family. She spent close to fifteen years there creating long-lasting friendships with clients and staff. Debbie would plan the yearly Christmas parties that always had lots of laughs and special memories.

Debbie is survived by her son Alexander, mother Elsie and brother Rick of Yorkton, Saskatchewan, and her brother-in-law Rob of Calgary. Debbie was predeceased by her father Paul, and husband Randy. The ongoing debate about the Edmonton Oilers and the Toronto Maple Leafs will begin again.  

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation. Thank you to all the staff at the Nelson Hospital for your amazing support. A heartfelt thank you to Corinne, for being by Debbie and Alexander’s side. You are truly a special person.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 29.
