Bezaire, Greg

(February 4th, 2019)

It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother and Friend Greg Bezaire on January 30, 2019.Greg battled against all the odds with a rare cancer Cholangiocarcinoma and proved his “Super Hero” status with grace, positivity, courage, strength and dignity. The Nelson community has lost a bright light.

Greg was born on June 8, 1970 to John and Lynda Bezaire in Windsor Ontario. The oldest of four siblings he worked helping the family Landscaping Business from an early age. At 15 years old he worked at the prestigious Essex Golf & Country Club where he found a passion for golf and business operations. In 1992 he moved to Nelson to attend the Golf Management and Operations Program at Selkirk College. Not only did he fall in love with the city of Nelson it is here where he met the love of his life Angela and where he has raised his family and made his home for the past 26 years.

Greg went on to work as a Territory Manager for Mark Anthony Wine and Spirits, Pacific Insight as a Key Accounts Manager and Drop Manufacturing as the Director of Business Development. Greg travelled extensively across the country, the United States and Mexico for work. He was a big part of many successes in his business dealings throughout those years. He was touched by all the people he encountered and was blessed to work with all of them.

Greg was a dedicated volunteer in the community. The countless hours and care he took on was admirable. He served on the Economic Development Commission, Co-Chairs on both the Blewett and Trafalgar Parent Advisory Committees and a Board of Director for the Nelson Glacier Gymnastics. He was a committed, results orientated person who was always trying to better his children’s lives as well as all the children in our community. He would say the quality of people he sat with on these boards are “superb” human beings and he was proud to sit alongside them meeting after meeting.

Greg was so blessed to have many cherished friends and wonderful neighbours throughout his life. He was an infectious and loving soul with true kindness and generosity.

When he loved, he loved!!

Of all Greg’s passions – the ultimate foodie and chef, vast knowledge of wines & spirits, love for sports, the outdoors and the company of friends his deepest passion was his family. He married Angela Catenacci in 1996 and they are raising two outstanding individuals Ethan age 16 and Olivia age 13. They will continue his legacy of kindness, compassion and empathy with whomever they are surrounded by.

Greg leaves to mourn the loves of his life Angela, Ethan and Olivia. His Windsor Ontario family, Father John Bezaire, Brother Derek Bezaire, Sisters Tracy & Rob Perron (Carter, Madison) and Nicole Bezaire (Taiya). In Nelson, Mother-in-Law Sharon Fletcher, Father-in Law Jack & Norine Catenacci (Gino), Brenda (Catenacci) & Nick Aubin (Kate, Megan) of Kelowna, B.C. and Mark Catenacci  (Gavin, Sarah) of Calgary Alberta. As well numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins and extended family.

He was predeceased by his Mom Lynda Bezaire on January 11, 2018 and his beloved Yellow Lab Lexy in 2012.
