Winter Storm Warning for BCHwy 3, Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass

Environment Canada has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Highway 3, Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass for Monday evening and into Tuesday.

Environment Canada said A moist Pacific frontal system is set to swing over southern BC Monday evening bringing snow as well as hazardous winter conditions.

“Heavy snow will develop this evening over Highway 3 – Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass (with) total snowfall amount of up to 35 cm can be expected over the pass by Tuesday afternoon,”  Environment Canada said. “The heavy snow will ease late Tuesday as the system moves into Alberta.”

Environment Canada said rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
