Whitewater skier finishes 26th overall at 2023 Canada Winter Games

Whitewater skier Rylie Clark finished 26th overall in the women’s super-G Alpine Ski Race Tuesday at the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island.

Clark finished the race in a time of 48.73 seconds.

Team BC teammate Roxy Coatesworth of Golden won the race in a time of 45.08 seconds.

The medal was the first for Team BC at Canada’s largest multi-sport event that showcases the top athletes in the country.

Clark, 15, competed at the 2022 BC Winter Games in ski racing as well as the U16 Canadian National Championships.

Clark, currently ranked as the fourth fastest female racer in BC in the U16 division said prior to heading to PEI that growing up in a small town she wanted to maximize her activities and ski racing was a great way to accomplish her goal.

Madison Sherriff finished 14th, Eva Wyse finished 19th, Maika Lennox-King 22nd and Amy Milne 31st to round out the Team BC results.

The super-G was the first alpine event of the Canada Winter Games.

Next race for Clark is the women’s Giant Slalom Wednesday at Crabbe Mountain.

Thursday Clark will compete in the women’s slalom race.

BC Alpine sent 14 BC Alpine skiers and three para skiers from seven clubs from across the province.

The alpine and para-alpine events are scheduled from Feb. 28 – March 5th.

Nelson Boxers on the Canada Winter Games card

The Nelson Boxing Club is sending a pair of athletes to compete at the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island.

Riel Martinez and Lola Brouillette, both 17, compete beginning today in the 57kg male and 52kg female events at the Canada Games Multi-Sport Dome at Credit Union Place.
