West Kootenay Wolfpack face tough competition at Alberta tournament

Not even a spring snowstorm in southern Alberta could slow the West Kootenay Wolfpack Midget B Lacrosse team at a tournament in High River, AB.

Despite going winless in the eight-team tournament, the Wolfpack squad pushed some very strong teams in every match during the weekend event.

The West Kootenay Wolfpack Midget B team played the Sherwood Park Titans Midget B team in the opener, dropping a 5-1 decision to the Titans.  The Wolfpack lone goal came from Noah McIntosh. Jack Centrone of Nelson assisted on the goal while goalie Ryley Lockhurst had a strong game guarding the nets and was selected MVP for the visitors from BC.

The West Kootenay Wolfpack then dropped a tough 5-2 loss to Brook Drillers Midget B team. Centrone and Reese Philips scored for the Wolfpack. Trenton Winters and Noah Elliot-Adams assisted on the goals.  Wolfpack MVP was Kayden McIntosh.

West Kootenay then were blasted 10-2 by a powerful Calgary Hornets Midget B team in Game three. Kayden McIntosh and Noah McIntosh scored for the Wolfpack.

MVP of the game for the Wolfpack Midgets was Reece Whitehead.

In the final game of the tournament, West Kootenay dropped an 8-3 decision to Cranbrook Outlaws Midget B team.  The Wolfpack got goals from Jack Centrone, Noah Elliott-Adams, and Reece Whitehead.  Beynon Smart assisted on Jack’s goal and Noah Elliot-Adams assisted on Reece’s goal. The MVP of the game for the Wolfpack Midget’s was Jackson Cousins.  

West Kootenay Peewee squad drop heartbreaker to Cranbrook

The West Kootenay Wolfpack Peewee C team saw their East Kootenay rivals score a late goal to pull out a 4-3 victory in consolation round action at the Barn Burner Tournament in High River, AB.

Cranbrook Outlaw Peewee B posted the defeat in Game four of the six-team tourney. Noah Thirsk, Owen Graham, and Kurtis Steenhoff scored for the Wolfpack.

Jake Barbour assisted on Owen’s goal and Chuck Shrieves assisted on Kurtis’ goal.  There were 12 minutes of penalties given to the Wolfpack players.  The MVP of the game for the Wolfpack Peewee’s was Kurtis Steenhoff.

West Kootenay Wolfpack opened the tournament with an 8-2 loss to Calgary Sabrecats Peewee B team.

Wolfpack MVP was goalie Holden Johnston.

West Kootenay Wolfpack then dropped a 7-2 decision to Calgary Axemen Peewee B team. Roscoe Dupont and Owen Graham scored for the Wolfpack with Lincon Kelly assisting on Graham’s goal. Wolfpack MVP was Roscoe Dupont

West Kootenay was defeated 4-0 by host High River Heat Peewee. Wolfpack MVP was Owen Graham.

The West Kootenay Wolfpack is part of the BC Lacrosse Association. The Wolfpack has players from throughout the West Kootenay, playing out of Castlegar and competing in tournaments in BC and Alberta.
