Uphill hit with offensive graffiti, Break and Enter at FortisBC

Residents in lower Uphill woke up Saturday morning to see graffiti spray-painted on numerous vehicles, homes as well as a church and school said Nelson Police in a media release Sunday.
Police said the unknown suspect(s) struck in the early morning of Saturday March 31st.
“The graffiti was seen from Carbonate Street, through Mill Street and Ward Street in the Lower Uphill area of Nelson,” Nelson Police Department media release said.
“Most concerning was the type of graffiti that was found by investigators. Numerous concerned members of the community have reported the presence of Swastikas, upside down crosses and offensive marks sprayed across our community.”
Police said residents in the area, many who spent Saturday re-painting buildings, are urged to check any home security video footage they may have.
“The Nelson Police Department is actively investigating the incidents and is asking anyone with any information to contact Constable Therrien,” the release said.
Thieves arrested after FortisBC Break and Enter
Nelson Police arrested two males without incident early Saturday (March 31) morning following a a report of a break and enter in progress at the Fortis Generation Office in South Slocan.
The call was received at NPD dispatched at approximately 4:20 a.m. on March 31, 2018 of a report that a break and enter in progress.
“Nelson Police Department members arrived on scene and arrested two Nelson males without incident,” NPD said.
“The males have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear in Nelson Court on Tuesday April 1, 2018 facing several charges.”
