UPDATED: RCMP dive team recover body from Kootenay River

RCMP said the provincial dive team recovered the body of a male believed to have drowned in the Kootenay River near Shoreacres Sunday afternoon.
Cpl. Derek Pitt told The Nelson Daily that RCMP divers made the recovery of a 51-year-old Slocan Valley man at approximately 3 p.m. Monday.
“It didn’t take long for RCMP divers to locate the body of the male thanks to some assistance from witnesses,” Cpl. PItt said.
Cpl. Pitt said police were contacted Sunday at around 4 p.m. after a witness saw a man enter the water near a Shoreacres property next to the Kootenay River.
Castlegar Seach and Rescue was called to assist with locating the man. However, darkness ended the search Sunday, prompting RCMP divers to be called in to assist with locating the missing male.
Police said the BC Coroners Services has taken over the investigation as well as RCMP Victim Services has been contacted to assist the family.
Shoreacres is approximately 20 kilometers east of Castlegar on Highway 3A.

RCMP said a dive team has been called in to search for a man’s body after an apparent drowning in the Kootenay River Sunday afternoon near Shoreacres.
RCMP said the dive team will be working with Castlegar Search and Rescue to conduct the search for the missing man.
RCMP did you confirm the identity of the victim or the circumstances around the drowning, but it is believed the person entered the water at approximately 4 p.m. Sunday.
Shoreacres is approximately 20 kilometers east of Castlegar on Highway 3A.
