UPDATED: Missing Winlaw boy located

RCMP said in a media release Friday that a Winlaw boy reported missing on Thursday, December 3, 2020 has been located.

“RCMP is pleased to confirm that the 12-year-old boy reported missing was located last night safe and sound,” the media release said.

“Slocan Lake RCMP would like to thank those that assisted with the investigation.”

Public assistance requested in locating missing Winlaw boy

Slocan Lake RCMP said in a media release Thursday police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a missing 12-year-old Winlaw boy.

Finn Lydon was last seen on December 3, 2020 at approximately 11:30 a.m., when he departed his home in Winlaw.

Winlaw is located approximately 27 kilometres north on Highway 6 from the Slocan Valley Junction and 50 kilometers from Nelson.

RCMP said there is nothing to indicate foul play at this time and police believe Lydon is either in the Slocan Valley region or may be travelling towards Rossland.

However, police are very concerned for Lydon’s safety.

Finn Lydon is described as:

  • Caucasian male;
  • 12 years;
  • 5 ft 1 in (155 cm);
  • blonde hair;
  • blue eyes;

Police said Lydon was last seen wearing a blue Santa Cruz hoodie, carrying a back pack with a red skateboard attached.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Finn Lydon is urged to contact their local police, Slocan Lake RCMP at 250-358-2222, 9-1-1 if necessary or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
