UPDATED: Driver that left accident scene turns himself in to police

RCMP said police have identified the driver that left the scene of an accident Tuesday, March 21, 2023, near the intersection of Highway 3A and 6 near Playmor.

RCMP had requested public assistance following the accident after the driver of the Grey or Silver ½ ton GMC pickup left the scene of the accident that involved three vehicles.

“The driver of the truck has turned himself in to the Castlegar RCMP after seeing the media release with the photo of his truck,” RCMP said in an emailed statement.

“The investigation is currently on going,” RCMP added.

RCMP said the 37-year-old Castlegar resident has been arrested and released on an Undertaking to appear in court on May 31st in Castlegar BC.

RCMP there were four occupants in the three vehicles.

The occupants received only minor injuries from the accident.

RCMP request public assistance in locating owner of vehicle leaving scene of accident 

Nelson RCMP is asking for public assistance regarding a motor vehicle accident that closed the highway west of the Playmor Junction Tuesday afternoon.

RCMP said the motor vehicle incident occurred on Tuesday, March 21st, 2023, at approximately 3:55 p.m. near the Playmor Junction on Highway 3A/6.

“Police would like to identify and speak to the owner of one of the vehicles which left the scene of the accident,” RCMP said in a media release Wednesday.

RCMP said the vehicle leaving the scene is a Grey or Silver ½-ton GMC pickup truck.

Police said anyone with information and dash cam footage is asked to contact the Nelson RCMP at 250-352-2156.
