Castlegar SAR back to search for missing Winlaw man

Castlegar Search and Rescue is confirmed to have returned to search for a missing Winlaw man, Ty Larstone, a family friend told The Nelson Daily Friday.

Larstone has been missing since Saturday afternoon when he did not return from a hike in the bush believed to be on Perry’s Ridge in the Slocan Valley.

The family friend said Search and Rescue teams are scheduled to be dropped by helicopter above the location where the search concluded due to darkness Thursday. Friday will mark the third day the team has searched for Larstone.

The family friend said the search team has found tracks believed to be from Larstone, but animals migrating through the same area has made it difficult for Castlegar SAR to locate Larstone.

The family friend said there was an unconfirmed report that Larstone was scene walking on Highway 6 near his home in Winlaw. However, that sighting has been unsubstantiated.

Larstone, 32, is 5’11” with a slender build and was wearing dark green camo pants, lighter green camo jacket and dark toque. He also had a camo coloured backpack.

Anyone with information should contact New Denver RCMP at 250-358-2222 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Larstone, 32, is 5’11” with a slender build and was wearing dark green camo pants, lighter green camo jacket and dark toque.
