Nelson History Theatre, in its 16th year of presenting summer theatre in Nelson, is launching an ambitious month long festival with four productions at the TNT Playhouse at the corner of Ward and Carbonate Streets.

Featuring  a serious drama, a classic Canadian romance, an original play, and a song and comedy cabaret, the festival hopes to provide something for everyone and everything for somebody.

Opening Thursday (August 6) ‘A Duet For One’ stars Carly Brandel and Richard Rowberry and is a remount of the production which won rave reviews last fall at The Capitol.

Following close behind (August 14th) David French’s ‘Saltwater Moon’ is a romantic crowd pleaser with local favourites Sarah Jane Hicks and Gabe Macdonald, both of whom are pursuing professional performance careers.

Long-time theatre Jill-of-all-trades Adriana Bogaard, currently at The National Theatre School of Canada,

brings her original play ‘The Passage’ to Nelson. Performed by Jen Viens, it documents the trials of a lone woman walking from Edmonton to the Klondyke Gold Rush.

And providing comic relief will be Gabe and Sarah Jane and friends presenting a cabaret evening of songs and comic sketches.
