The Royal is proud to be bringing back Canadian icon, the Juno award winning Fred Eaglesmith. Joined by The Fabulous Ginn Sisters, this will be a top-notch evening showcasing some of Canada’s finest country folk rock performers.
Country-folk singer/songwriter Fred J. Eaglesmith was one of nine children born to a farming family in rural southern Ontario.
Often employing his difficult upbringing as raw material for his heartland narratives, Eaglesmith has a handful of albums behind him and has became a Canadian underground favourite.
He tours relentlessly with a great love for the live performance. He’s a true Canadian folk singer and a puts on a terrific live show.

Full of Latin Soul and on the rise is Alex Cuba. He has won 2 Juno awards, a Latin Grammy for Best New Artist, and was nominated again at the 2011 Grammys.
He’s living in BC these days, and all of us here at The Royal are thrilled to have him coming to Nelson.
Known for his explosive live performances, Alex Cuba is a show not to miss.
New Country Rehab with Matthew Hornell

Freeflow returns to the Royal.
Who is Freeflow? For anyone who’s seen the band perform, the answer is simple: they’re an energetic band that brings people out of their seats with a compelling combination of songs with great hooks and great vocal harmonies.
A much greater challenge, however, is describing Freeflow’s sound, which features everything from Soul and funk to reggae and rock.
They have often been compared to bands like Sublime and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, yet have nurtured a sound distinctively their own.
Iron Horse

Not only do these guys play some smokin’ bluegrass, Iron Horse are also masters of interpretation.
This quartet has an incredible ability of taking metal and pop songs and transforming them into bluegrass masterpieces. Iron Horse creates much of its own music, with an innate ability for cross-genre arrangements.
Iron Horse has three self-produced albums, containing previously un-released compositions, and Iron Horse-composed originals.
In January 2003 the band was approached by Los Angeles-based CMH Records to record a tribute album to the heavy metal band, Metallica, which was released in October of that year.
Since then, Iron Horse has recorded twelve projects for CMH Records which include tributes to Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourn, Modest Mouse, The Shins, Guns & Roses, The Goo Goo Dolls, Hank Williams, Black label Society as well as others.
The versatility of this band enables Iron Horse to perform such standards as “Rocky Top” and “Man of Constant Sorrow” with little effort, while entertaining “metal-heads” with the familiarity of the compositions of metal and pop icons – all on the same stage.
