It’s been a tough go for the Nelson/Castlegar Midget Reps.

The combined team of players from the Heritage and Sunflower Cities has struggled to win any games this season on the Minor Hockey Midget Rep circuit.

The latest setback came Saturday when Nakusp put a 9-2 shellacking on the Reps. The loss came on the heels of two previous setbacks to Nakusp, 3-1 and 9-4.

The Reps have a 0-10-1 record to start the season.

Leading the team offensively is Grant Matthews of Castlegar with 13 points. Second is Joseph Gauthier of Castlegar with 10 points, including five goals.

John Katountas of Nelson is next with eight points followed by Colton Steeds of Castlegar and Colton Dawson of Nelson, each with seven points.

The Castlegar and Nelson Associations needed to combine forces due to a decline in numbers at the Midget Rep level and the Kootenay Ice Major Midget team taking all of the top players in the zone to play in the B.C. Hockey League.

The Reps travel to the Okanagan this weekend for a tournament in Winfield.
