The unpredictable weather is once again, unpredictable.

Environment Canada issued a Special Weather Statement for the West Kootenay, Boundary and Kootenay Lake regions Thursday.

Environment Canada said Thursday morning that travellers of the Kootenay Pass and Paulson Summit can expect to see snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm thanks to a low pressure system passing over the region.

“An area of low pressure will spread snow to portions of the Highway 3 between Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass this (Thursday) morning,” the statement on the Environment Canada website said.
“Snow will taper off to a few flurries this afternoon as the system departs.”

Environment Canada said periods of snow will occur at elevations above 1400 metres as changing weather in the mountains can result in hazardous driving conditions.

For road conditions go to DriveBC.

Environment Canada is calling for a 60 percent chance of rain today, with rainfall tapering off ot 30 percent this evening.
