There’s a full line-up of some of Nelson’s finest acts to keep you moving all night long. The night will feature Brian Rosen and the WhatNow, Drive if You Must and Selectah Meszenjah.
Brian Rosen and The WhatNow
Brian Rosen and The WhatNow is a rock/reggae/funk band with a humanitarian and Earth-loving message.
Performances are passionate and full of energy as they spread their positive message and deliver unstoppable, fearless rhythms.
Based out of Nelson, this group is quickly becoming one of the most refreshing bands to hit the Western Canadian live music scene.
The WhatNow is a tight ensemble that holds down a potent groove, hypnotizing the audience. Carefully-crafted songs give way to bouts of adventurous improvisation when this band takes the stage.
Carefully selected, The WhatNow boasts a cadre of multi-talented lads, including several multi-instrumentalists, a film scorer, a DJ, singer/songwriters, recording engineers, and classically-trained players.
Brian Rosen and The WhatNow finished their debut album, Planting the Seed, in September 2008, and are now in the studio creating their second release.
Drive If You Must
DIYM is the electro/acoustic music project of Sarah McGlynn and Rich Rabnett.
Born in Nelson in the Fall of 2006, the duo have been mining the depths of the electronic music scene in the city, and marrying these influences with their own background performing jazz and soul music.
The result is a made in the Kootenays sound, that evolves beyond the static boundaries of contemporary electronic music.
While performing jazz standards twice weekly in Nelson, Sarah and Rich found opportunity to write their own songs in Rich’s basement.
When bringing the project to life, the duo enlisted in the talent of local heros, Kiyoshi Elkuf (Rabnett 5), and Jeff Steele (Sobiet Union), to crystalize the concept of electronic music that is characterized by catchy hooks and powerful vocals, but free from the repetition and looping that usually defines this style of music.
The quartet frequently abandons the laptop free to explore the diamonds of non-metronomic time. Always open to collaboration, DIYM is thankful for sonic contributions on Circles from the Moving Mosaic Samba Band, Psudaform, Man in Havana, and Adham Shaikh.

Selectah Meszenjah
Selectah Meszenjah has been involved in the reggae music scene for over a decade and has recored with timeless artists such as Gregory Issacs, Sizzla and Capelton.
His unique style of blending reggae roots and dancehall is the special ingredient for some serious booty shaking.
