Single-vehicle accident slows traffic near Bonnington

Traffic on Highway 3A, approximately 15 kilometers west of Nelson, near the FortisBC Bonnington Dam was stalled Wednesday afternoon due to a single-vehicle accident.

A small Hyundai left the road before ending up on its roof in the ditch.

RCMP was joined by Beasley Fire Rescue as well as Dr. Nic Sparrow of Kootenay Emergency Response Physicians Association (KERPA).

A motorist passing by the accident scene told The Nelson Daily there was significant damage to the car with doors pushed out and somewhat crushed.

BC Ambulance also attended.

One lane was opened to allow highway traffic to proceed.

No cause of the accident or condition of occupants has been released.
