Three Kootenay artists came home with awards at the recent B.C. Interior Music Awards held in Kelowna.

Adham Shaikh, Wassabi Collective and Jude Davison took home awards April 23 at the Kelowna Community Theatre.

East Shore resident Davison, who teaches at Selkirk College’s School of Music, won for CD/DVD artwork design of the year and concept/collaboration recording of the year for his double album Outskirts of Eden.

Nelson’s Wassabi Collective won for urban/dance recording of the year for Get It!. The band was nominated in six other categories — album of the year, engineer of the year, producer of the year, CD/DVD artwork of the year, group of the year, and urban/dance recording of the year — but did not win.

Slocan Valley resident Adham Shaikh nailed down the roots/world recording of the year for his 11th album Universal Frequencies.

The Slocan Valley’s Dominique Fraissard was nominated in four categories — producer of the year, folk/traditional album of the year, roots/world recording of the year, and the peoples’ choice award — but did not win.
