The Harrop Ferry is going to be replaced by a slower boat until Sunday, March 27.

The service delay is to make upgrades to the 18-vehicle, 78 passenger vessel.

During the Harrop Ferry Refit there will be a load restriction in place of 25,000 kg and a maximum length of 64 feet for vehicles taking the vessel replacing the ferry.

The Harrop Ferry crosses Kootenay River, on Highway 3A, 24.5 kilometres northeast of Nelson and eight kilometres west of Balfour to the communities of Harrop and Procter (on the south bank).
