Celebrate local woodworking design and artisanship with the students of the Selkirk College Fine Woodworking Program at their annual year-end show.

The show will run Friday, May 24 to Sunday, May 26 at its traditional venue of 402 Baker Street in the Nelson Trading Company building.

The event will showcase original wooden furniture pieces, designed and built by students of the renowned Fine Woodworking Program in Nelson. Tables, cabinets, and other projects of all shapes and sizes will be on display, and students will be on hand to answer questions and discuss their projects.

“Our students have been working toward the year-end show since they entered our shop up at the Silver King Campus in September,” said Instructor David Ringheim. “The showcase has become a popular annual event for Nelson residents and visitors. We are excited to share our work and our love of fine woodworking with the public.”

While at the show, be sure to check out the winner of this year’s student design competition – the Green Space Cabinet, a beautiful multifunction piece, with a nod to avid or aspiring urban gardeners.

The cabinet will be raffled off at the end of the show with tickets available all weekend at the event for $10 or three for $20.

There will be an informal meet and greet reception Friday night from 7 to 9 p.m.

  • Friday, May 24, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 25, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 26, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
