School’s out for, not the summer, Christmas Holiday Break as staff and students of Kootenay Lake School District 8 enjoy time away from the books.

Before Friday’s final day, schools throughout the district welcomed in parents and family for the annual Christmas Concerts.

At Hume Elementary, before a packed house, students from Kindergarten to Grade 5 performed with heavy hearts as one of their classmates was killed in a car accident earlier in the week.

All the students were wearing purple hearts in honour of Alexis Nickolchuk-Oliver.

Still the students sang, danced and played recorder instruments to a variety of seasonal music.
