Revelstoke takes 2-0 lead in Teck Cup against Leafs, Game three Monday in Nelson

Cole Berg and Brandon Kasdorf each scored singles to spark the Revelstoke Grizzlies in a 2-1 win over the Nelson Leafs in Game two of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League Teck Cup Championship Saturday night at the Forum.
The win, coming after Revelstoke opened the series with a 4-3 victory Friday, gives the Grizzlies a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Games three and four go Monday and Tuesday at the NDCC Arena.
The Revelstoke captain opened the scoring at the midway mark of the first with his fifth goal of the playoffs before Kasdorf gave the Grizzlies a 2-0 lead in the second period with his sixth marker of the post season on the power-play.
Nelson cut the lead in half at 8:56 of the third when Bryden Pow got the Leafs on the board with his fifth of the playoffs.
Brandon Weare was again outstanding in goal Revelstoke, making 26 saves for the win.
Leafs Dylan Marshall finished with 31 saves.
Grizzlies take opening game of the Teck Cup championship
Friday, Weare made 50 saves for the Revelstoke in a series-opening win against the Nelson.
The Leafs got off to a strong start, scoring 14 seconds into the game on a goal by Simon Nemethy, his sixth goal.
Four minutes after the Leafs took the 1-0 lead, the Grizzlies evened the score on a goal by Carter Bettenson, who was set up on the power-play by Jacob Smith and Will McPhee.
The Grizzlies power-play went 3-for-5 with the other goals on the man advantage coming from Luke Aston and Brandon Kasdorf, making it 4-2, with his fifth of the playoffs.
Trailing 3-1 after the opening period, Nemethy scored his second of the night 47 seconds into the second period.
Kasdorf’s goal was the eventual winner as Joe Davidson scored on the power-play to bring the Leafs to within a goal.
Dylan Marshall finished with 22 saves for the Leafs.
The KIJHL Champion advances to the Cyclone Taylor Cup April 7-10 at the Ladner Leisure Centre.
The four-team tournament includes the winner of the Pacific Junior Hockey League, Vancouver Island Hockey League and host Delta Ice Hawks.
