The Regional District of Central Kootenay held a Firefighting Training Boot Camp this past weekend.

Approximately 35 rookie firefighters were at North Shore Fire Hall to train for the Fighter I Standards with documentation.

Firefighters attended from as far away as Yahk to Slocan to receive training from instructors from Kamloops.

The RDCK has 18 volunteer fire departments and 19 halls in the region. No previous experience is necessary to become a volunteer firefighter with the RDCK providing professional training and all personal protective equipment.
