RCMP search for witnesses following fatal crash on Highway 95A near Kimberley

Kimberley RCMP is asking for public assistance in regards to a fatal accident Friday on Highway 95A near Stirton Road, south of Marysville.

RCMP said on Friday, June 24, 2022, at approximately 4:50 p.m., officers responded to a head-on collision involving two vehicles.

“Upon arrival it was determined that a blue Dodge Journey heading southbound entered the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a northbound vehicle (a green Ford Escape), resulting in serious injuries to the drivers of both vehicles,” the RCMP media release said.

“The passenger in the Dodge Journey later died of her injuries in hospital.”

Police said Highway 95A was closed for several hours as police investigated, gathered evidence and recovered the vehicles involved.

BC Highway Patrol Cranbrook is continuing this investigation with assistance from Kimberley RCMP, the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service and the BC Coroners’ Service.

RCMP is asking for information regarding this fatal crash, including anyone with dashboard camera video of pre-collision driving of either vehicle, to contact BC Highway Patrol Cranbrook at 250-420-4244 and cite file 2022-2750.
