RCMP, BC Coroners Service investigating sudden death

Nakusp RCMP said a yellow 2004 Ford F150 extended cab pickup truck was recovered December 8 from the Arrow Lake with a deceased single male in his late 60s.

In a media release Tuesday, the Nakusp RCMP and the BC Coroners Service said an investigation has been started after the body of a deceased individual was pulled from a motor vehicle found submerged in Arrow Lakes.

RCMP said on December 7, 2019 at approximately 12:43 a.m., operators aboard the Needles Ferry observed a submerged vehicle off the Needles Ferry Dock on Arrow Lakes, in Needles BC.

Needles is located approximately 58 kilometers south of Nakusp on Highway 6.

Police said there are no witnesses to the incident and, at this time, they are unable to determine how long the vehicle had been in the lake.

On December 8, 2019 the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team attended and assessed the submerged vehicle and found that it was occupied.

“A yellow 2004 Ford F150 extended cab pickup truck was recovered from the lake with a single male in his late sixties who was deceased,” said RCMPCpl. Jamie Moffat.

"Although the investigation is in its early stages, RCMP do not suspect criminality was involved in the individual’s death at this time.”

Police are seeking any witnesses who may have observed a vehicle matching this description in the area.
