Police investigate vandalism at L.V. Rogers High School

L.V. Rogers High School principal Ben Eaton said student classes at the Fairview facility were cancelled Monday as a result of overnight vandalism.

Eaton said in an emailed statement that staff closed the school today for “health and safety reasons due to the nature of the vandalism.” 

“Police are involved,” Eaton told The Nelson Daily.

“Any information (regarding the vandalism) from the public would be welcomed.”

Eaton did not reveal the nature of the vandalism or if there was a significant dollar amount of damage to the school.

“A team of SD8 district and school staff, including parents, have been cleaning the school throughout the day,” Eaton said.

Eaton said classes will resume Tuesday.

L.V. Rogers hosted highly curatedGrad Ceremony during the weekend.

Graduates were permitted four guests during a highly organized, distanced queue. Graduates, dressed up in formalwear, remains in vehicles until ten minutes before their graduating time.

Later in the day, the 2021 class climbed aboard their respective vehicles for the Cavalcade trek through Nelson where spectators, including family and friends, were able to salute the graduation from high school.
