It was a motor-powered weekend as, following a successful Road Kings’ Queen City Cruise in Nelson, motorcycle riders came out of the woodwork on a picture-perfect day to raise funds at the 24th annual West Kootenay Toy Run.

The annual ride for kids raises $25,000 annually to buy toys for children at Christmas time as around riders rode around the West Kootenay Sunday.

As well, the money is used to support local food banks, women’s shelters and other social services.

The ride started in Castlegar at the Community Complex before the riders cruised to Nelson and onto Salmo, Fruitvale, Trail and Rossland, before heading back to the Castlegar Complex.

Up for grabs was the Flamed 2011 Fat Boy Lo-rider.

Winner will be announced in the next few days.
