The members of Wiñay Taki Ayllu are visiting the Kootenays this summer from the village of Pisac, in the Sacred Valley of Peru.

Dressed in traditional Andean costume, they will be in Nelson with Pututus – conch shells – this weekend, followed by an introduction to the group.  Wiñay Taki will share the teachings of the Andean Calendar portrayed in traditional music featuring flutes and drums.

After a short Intermission, Wiñay Taki will show a video on Kawsay Raymi, celebrating universal interconnection, reciprocity, and respect for all life, that form the basis of the indigenous Andean value system.

This will be followed by a slideshow on Kusi Kawsay (Happy Life), a Waldorf-inspired school based on traditional Andean culture. The evening will end with dance and celebration.

  • Tickets: $10 at the door
