Following a brief hiatus from the entertainment scene, The Royal is getting ready to kick open the doors with a list of events running from November 6-9.

The Baker Street business, located at 330 Baker Street in Nelson, is getting a new lease on life thanks to an excited group of new owners from Rossland and Squamish.

The four partners — Nicole Forest Smith, Kyle Chambers, Marc Forest Smith and Matty Hagarty — bring a melting pot of experience in the hospitality and entertainment industry.

Nicole Forest Smith and Kyle Chambers come from Backcountry Brewing in Squamish; Marc Forest Smith brings management skills form Colbalt in Vancouver and Howe Sound Brewing in Squamish; while Matty Hagarty is the owner of punk rock dive bar/vegan restaurant, What’s Up” Hot Dog in Vancouver.

The quartet, along with chef Tony Lieu, are optimistic their shared knowledge will bring new life to the historic Royal in Nelson with upscale pub food, catering to all tastes and diets, including vegetarian and vegan menu items.

The event programing has been revamped with a mix of live bands of all genres and DJ’s. There will also be live screening and premiers of ski and snowboard movies which nicely fits into Nelson’s outdoor scene.

Following the first week of business, the Royal kicks off with a DJ night Friday, November 8 featuring Vancouver’s Woodhead. Saturday, November 9, The Royal hosts a metal/rock n roll show featuring Regina’s Black Thunder.

See you at The Royal.
