Summer must be right around the corner as one of the cornerstones to the Nelson downtown during July and August is Artwalk.

This year opening night for 2017 ArtWalk is Friday, June 23 from 6-9 p.m. in the Nelson Downtown.

“It will be all about art on Friday, June 23rd whether its oil, acrylic, or water based -town will be alive with color and talent,” said Stephanie Myers, 2017 ArtWalk Coordinator for Nelson and District Arts Council.

“ArtWalk has a well deserved reputation as one of the best nights in town. This year will be no different in that respect, but we are doing some things differently this year.”

Myers said this year ArtWalk will not close down Baker Street.

Instead singers, dancers, facepainter and even puppeteers will be roaming from venue to venue.

Myers said the 2017 ArtWalk brochure, with the map of all our venues and participating artists, will be out soon.

“Something else different this year, there will be no ArtWalk-men,” she said.

“They will enjoy a well deserved retirement as we unveil some beautiful new signage to mark the participating venues.”
