NPD salutes members at 2014 Commendations Ceremony

Nelson Police Department gave a big salute to sworn, civilian, and volunteer members during the 2014 Commendations Ceremony Tuesday at the Hume Hotel.

Guests at the event included the Nelson Police Board, Mayor Dooley and members of Nelson City Council, retired Nelson PD members, currently serving police members, civilians, families and friends.

“We are here today to formally recognize those individuals who have exceeded all expectations placed on them,” Nelson Chief Constable Wayne Holland said during the ceremony.

“A commendation is special. It is awarded when, on a single occasion, or on a consistent basis, the performance of an individual or group is noteworthy or meritorious.”

“We do this publically, so that our citizens are aware of the bravery, sacrifice and dedication to duty that is displayed by our men and women on a daily basis,” Holland added.
