New manager, new season at KCR

There is a new sheriff in town at the Kootenay Co-op Radio shop.
As of Oct. 12 Jay Hannley has taken over in the newly created position of station manager at KCR (93.5 FM) while the administrative manager position was dissolved.
Leah Wilson held the position of administrative manager for the last two years but will be leaving the station’s paid staff roll.
Kootenay Co-op Radio’s broadcast schedule has also been released for the fall. Most shows are the same as the previous broadcast season, but there are some interesting changes worth checking out:

The Stories We Tell
Host: Joe McDaldno
Mondays at 2 p.m.
Each episode looks at a different “storytelling community,” through an interview with a member of that community. The communities would be diverse and interesting, including: performance poetry; improv theatre; collaborative writing; story games; rewilding; mythic cartography; fan-fiction writing; creative anachronism/historical re-enactment; appreciative inquiry; graphic facilitation; narrative therapy; art therapy; community theatre; creative writing classes; classic storytelling; and bard-ship.
Marty’s Mixtape
Host: Marty Clements
Saturdays at 10 p.m.
A smooth mix of hiphop, jazz, reggae, and soul with information on the artists’ background and up coming shows if they are in the area, giving them the exposure they deserve. The show will also play songs and artists that inspired them.
C’est Cheeze
Host: Mandy Lawson
Saturdays at noon
A cartoon show for kids of all ages. The goal of the program is to give a sense of community to listeners by playing interactive radio games, taking calls from listeners and talking about local events as they occur. This show is returning to KCR after a five-year break.
Vision Quest
Host Karie Garnier
Sundays at 1 p.m.
The show contains interviews with people who have had profound transformations, near-death experiences and awakenings. It’s an exploration of traditional Eastern methods of developing consciousness such as yoga as well as Western methods for awakening consciousness, including The Vision Quest process.
