Nelson native Geoff Kinrade joined a long list of Senators who did not take to the ice Tuesday for Ottawa’s 5-0 thrashing of the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Center.

Jason Spezza, Daniel Alfredsson, Alex Kovalev, Milan Michalek, Chris Phillips and Pascal Leclaire joined Kinrade, who re-signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Senators in the summer, on the sidelines as players, who didn’t make the trip from Ottawa.

Kinrade, 25, spent the 2009-10 season with Ottawa’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, recording professional highs in goals (seven), assists (20) and points (27) while accumulating 59 penalty minutes in a career-high 76 games. He ranked first among B-Sens and finished tied for 14th in the AHL in plus/minus with a +27 rating.

He is one of 15 defencemen remaining in camp with Ottawa.

Earlier Tuesday the Senators announced they have reduced their training camp roster by two forwards, re-assigning 2010 draft choices Jakub Culek and Mark Stone to their junior teams.

The Senators and Leafs return to action tonight in Toronto in a game that can be seen on TSN.
