Dani Evans of Nelson is gracious for the support received three years ago from the Nelson Friends of the Family charity.

To express her gratitude, Evans, along side her faithful service dog Buddy, plans to walk 100 kilometers in 31 days to raise money for the Nelson charity.

“Three years ago I had to travel to Kelowna, Vancouver and Edmonton when I was diagnosed with a rare form of Macular Degeneration,” the 12-year-old Evans said on the GoFundMe page.

“I’ve decided to do what I can to give back to this great organization through my walkathon charity.”

Evans said during the month of May, she will be walking around Nelson with my CNIB buddy dog, George, with a goal of walking 100 kilometers in 31 days.

Evans said anyone interested in supporting this walkathon fundraiser, can go to the GoFunMe page that is linked directly to Nelson Friends of the Family.

Nelson Friends of the Family is a non-profit organization in Nelson that assists families needing to travel outside the Heritage City for a child’s medical needs — helping to cover travel expenses.

“Nelson Friends of the Family has helped families all over Nelson, including mine, and I can’t thank them enough for all they’ve done for me and so many others,” Evans said.

“Thank you so much for your support of this incredible organization.”

Evans, who will be posting her progress and kilometers each week, is excited to reach my 100 km goal in 31 days.

“Your support means so much to me,” Evans said.
