Atlyn Proctor’s Team BC Blue finished sixth overall at the recent Canada Cup National Volleyball Tournament in Calgary.

The Nelson volleyball player, who plays high school volleyball at L.V. Rogers and on the club scene with the West Kootenay U17 squad, helped Team BC Blue oust Team BC Red in its final match of the tournament.

Team BC Blue opened the tournament Friday finishing 1-1 in pool play — defeating Alberta 3-0 before losing in five games to Manitoba Gold, 16-14 in the final game.

The second-place result gave Team BC Blue a berth in the power pool.

Team BC Blue opened with a five-set win over New Brunswick before losing to Newfoundland/Labrador in five sets.

Saturday, Team BC Blue lost to Prince Edward Island before outlasting Team BC Red 3-1 — 25-13, 25-15, 9-25, 25-22.

The final match Sunday morning saw Team BC Blue drop a 3-0 decision to New Brunswick.

The Canada Cup tournament culminates a long summer of volleyball for Proctor, who played the power hitter position for Team BC Blue.

Proctor started the provincial team tryout process with a regional camp in June followed by a provincial tryout in July and a training camp in Kamloops.

L.V. Rogers Bomber coach Staci Proctor was an assistant coach for Team BC Red.
