Nelson's Abra Brynne wins Kootenay-Columbia Green Party nomination

Kootenay-Columbia Green Party Electoral District Association CEO Bill Green announced Sunday that Abra Brynne has won the Kootenay-Columbia Green Party nomination in the upcoming Federal Election in October.
Brynne, from Nelson, edged out Kerri Wall of Fernie for the Kootenay-Columbia Green Party nomination Sunday by a narrow margin in a riding vote.
“I am pleased to announce that Abra Brynne is our 2019 Kootenay-Columbia Green Party candidate,” Green said in a media release.
“Please join me in welcoming Abra as our candidate,” Green added.
Green said 20 percent of the membership in Kootenay-Columbia Green Party voted in nomination race.
Brynne, who has worked extensively on sustainable food systems and communities locally, provincially and nationally for the past 28 years and is currently the Executive Director of the Central Kootenay Food Policy Council, joins NDPincumbent Wayne Stetski, Nelson resident Rick Stewart for the People’s Party of Canada and Rob Morrison of the Conservative Party as declared candidates in the Kootenay-Columbia riding.
The Kootenay-Columbia riding includes Cranbrook, Kimberley, Fernie, Golden, Sparwood and Creston in the East Kootenay and Nelson in the West Kootenay.
Regional Districts from East Kootenay, Kootenay and Columbia-Shuswap are also located in the riding.
The Federal Election is set for for Monday, October 21st .
