Nelson U15 Select golden in Kamloops

The Nelson Selects won gold at the Slurpee Cup tourney this past weekend in Kamloops.

The Selects edged out Kelowna Academy Storm by two points to top the standings in the U15 Girls Division.

Nelson finished the tournament with an undefeated record, defeating Williams Lake 7-0, tied Kelowna Academy Storm 2-2, shutout West Kelowna Lakers 3-0 and edged Vernon United 2-1.

The Selects lost out to Kelowna Academy Storm in penalty shots at the IceBreaker tournament over the Easter Weekend in the Central Okanagan.

When the final points were tallied, Nelson narrowly won the gold by two points over Kelowna Academy, thanks to a 7-0 win over Williams Lake gave the Selects the extra 2 points on goal differential.

The team includes, coaches Kevin Carmichael and Tad Lake and players Freya Keyserlingk, Tiia Brackett, Neola McCaw, Molly Anderson, Franny Byers-Bohigian, Rowan Maley, Lily Bennett, Nina Usher, Madison McDonald and coach Tad Lake. Front, Emma Wouters, Brinley Carmichael, Kallie Badry, Rylie Clark, Teigan Ward, Fiona Rooney-Frederick, Paityn Lake, Neveah Mullin and manager Jodi Wouters.
