Nelson Terry Fox Run tops $8,000 mark
Nelson just may be one of many places the Terry Fox Run is staged.
However, the Heritage City continues to be one of the bigger money raisers as the local stop raised more than $8,000 for cancer research Sunday at the Rotary Lakeside Park.
Mike Hurley, chief organizer of the Nelson Terry Fox Run, rallied the troops before more than 200 participants walked, biked, ran or jogged the five kilometer course along the waterfront during the 34th annual run and to raise money for cancer in Fox’s honour.
Similar runs were held across Canada as the Marathon of Hope Terry Fox led ended with his death 33 years ago.
Nelson’s run attracted 209 participants and raised a total of $8254.90.
