Nelson schools, including L.V. Rogers, Trafalgar and Waldorf, experienced some great results at the BC High School Cross Country Championships this past weekend in Victoria.

Aleah Smith of Trafalgar and Mitchell Erickson of LVR both finished in the top 25 in their respective, Junior Girls and Senior Boys, races.

Smith finished 15th overall in a field of 200 runners in the Junior Girls four-kilometer race in a time of 16 minutes, eight seconds.

Meanwhile Erickson, competing in the 5km race, was 25th overall in a time of 17:03.

There were four race categories for Junior girls and boys — Grades 8-10 — and Senior girls and boys — Grades 11-12.

The West Kootenay Senior Girls team consisted mostly of runners from LVR — Maina Hetu, Maya Abraham, Diara Snell and Allison Hung — with a lone competitor — Jill O’Hearn — from J. Lloyd Crowe in Trail.
