Nelson Police warn public about fake gold alert in the West Kootenay

Nelson Police issued a warning to the public Thursday about an increase fraudulent precious metals in the area.

Nelson Police said in a media release that with the increase in gold prices, officers have identified several incidents in which fraudulent gold bullions have been sold in the West Kootenay area.

“The Nelson Police Department would like to make the public aware of caution in dealing with, but not limited to, PAMP Swiss gold bullions and Perth Gold bullions,” the media release said.

To assist the public, Nelson Police Department is also taking the extraordinary step in cautioning the public in purchasing any precious metals from 37-year-old Jordan David Shepherd.

Nelson Police said if the public has purchased any types of precious metals from Shepherd they are asked to contact the Nelson Police General Investigation Section, at 250-354-3919.
