Nathan Small of the Nelson Curling Club is heading to represent BC at the 2021 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship next month in Canmore, AB.

Small, second on Team Robillard, edged Matthew McCrady in the final of the AMJ Campbell B.C. Mixed Curling Championship Sunday in Kelowna.

Team Robillard, which includes Small, Maple Ridge skip Sebastian Robillard, third Karla Thompson and lead Amanda Guido, both of Kamloops, defeated McCrady 6-4 in the championship final.

Team Robillard posted a 3-1 record in round-robin action, before knocking off Chris Baier 10-5 in a playoff draw to nail down A2 qualifier status.

However, the team lost 7-3 to McCrady in the 1 vs. 2 Page playoff game, forcing Team Robillard to play Miles Craig in the semi-final.

Team Robillard had no problems with the Craig rink, posting a 9-3 victory to advance to Sunday’s final.

The 2021 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship is hosted by the Canmore Golf and Curling Club, in Canmore, AB from November 7th-14th, 2021.

Team Robillard, sponsored by Torchlight Brewing of Nelson, won the 2020 BC Mixed Curling Championships.

However, the Canadian Mixed Curling Championships were canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Note: Registration is now open at the Nelson Curling Club. To register, curlers must have proof of vaccination as per the Nelson Community Complex Communicable Disease and Safety Plan.
