Marinas scores hole-in-one at Granite Pointe

While most golfers in the West Kootenay are still rubbing the rust off the game from the long offseason, Larry Marinas of Nelson is already in mid-season form.

Marinas recorded the first hole-in-one of the season at Granite Pointe Golf Course in Nelson on Thursday, April 29th after scoring the feat on the 15th hole with a group of golfing buddies.

Marinas hit an 8-iron on the 191-yard Par three, scoring the Ace from the White Tees.

The is the second Ace for the 76-year-old Marinas, who only started playing regularly for the past seven years.

Granite Pointe, with a rich history of golf dating back to 1920 when the course began as a nine-hole track, is open for the season.

In 1993, Granite Pointe completed is overhaul to 18 holes and now boasts a park-like setting with generous fairways and picturesque scenery of the surrounding mountains and Kootenay Lake.
