While most golfers in the West Kootenay are still rubbing the rust off the game from the long offseason, Larry Marinas of Nelson is already in mid-season form.
Marinas recorded the first hole-in-one of the season at Granite Pointe Golf Course in Nelson on Thursday, April 29th after scoring the feat on the 15th hole with a group of golfing buddies.
Marinas hit an 8-iron on the 191-yard Par three, scoring the Ace from the White Tees.
The is the second Ace for the 76-year-old Marinas, who only started playing regularly for the past seven years.
Granite Pointe, with a rich history of golf dating back to 1920 when the course began as a nine-hole track, is open for the season.
In 1993, Granite Pointe completed is overhaul to 18 holes and now boasts a park-like setting with generous fairways and picturesque scenery of the surrounding mountains and Kootenay Lake.
